Fragments of Island was developed during the Matsu Art Guerrilla Residency, exploring the island as a landscape shaped by mobility, history, and everyday life. Inspired by Matsu's vernacular architecture, particularly roof stones used to secure tiles against strong winds, the project reflects the relationship between human settlement and the natural environment. Through field research, I examined the island's transformation from a fishing community and military frontier to a tourism-oriented landscape. Combining painting and installation, the work reconstructs an in-between landscape that reflects how memory, movement, and lived experience continually reshape the perception of place.
